“Though I do not believe that a plant will spring up where no seed has been, I have great faith in a seed… Convince me that you have a seed there, and I am prepared to expect wonders.” — Henry David Thoreau
I love this quote because it speaks to the power of hope and faith in things yet to come, and it creates an image of growth and blossoming. At WSCR-NCORP, we continue to grow and expand like a garden that has been well-prepared to produce abundance. I am privileged to work with colleagues who are planting seeds and tending to our NCORP’s garden every day.
As I mentioned in my last message, we have added a new consortium member, Mercy Health, in Paducah, Kentucky, and we have begun discussions with a site on the Western Slope here in Colorado. All our efforts to expand the WSCR-NCORP footprint are driven by our mission to bring clinical trials to patients in their local communities and that includes rural and remote areas. Every patient who receives a cancer diagnosis has a right to have as many treatment options as are available and appropriate to their needs.
In addition to our internal team helping to grow the seeds of our mission, we are fortunate to have external partners whose business strategies are motivated by missions similar to ours; that is not an accident…we are intentional and judicious in who we choose to work with – those organizations are not just vendors; they are truly partners in helping us serve our patients and physicians. BEKHealth, TD2, Inc., WCG Clinical, and Komodo are four of our strongest allies in opening studies and getting them to our patients and physicians.
So as the earth wakes back up and spring unfolds, because of the team we have and partners we trust, I am prepared to expect wonders.
Happy Spring,
