Employee Spotlight: Abby Cannon

Abby Cannon is Western States Cancer Research NCORP’s Clinical Research Coordinator located in the
RMCC-Boulder office.

When did you start working at WSCR-NCORP?
April 2024

What is your favorite part of working at WSCR-NCORP?
I enjoy splitting my time between the Denver office and the RMCC-Boulder office. I really enjoy interacting with patients in the clinic but it’s also so fun to be able to spend time in the office with all of my wonderful WSCR colleagues!

What are you most proud of in your career so far?
I have really been dedicated to experiencing healthcare and medicine in as many aspects as I can. I’ve gained a pretty broad exposure to various sectors of medicine between my work as a medical assistant, my position in lab research, and now my role as a clinical research coordinator. I believe this has given me a unique appreciation of medicine that I hope to carry with me throughout my medical journey.

What do you think makes our team culture unique?
Everyone at WSCR genuinely enjoys the work they do! Nothing feels at all forced; everyone is supportive and happy to help because each person truly values the role we play in clinical research.

How did you get started in the field of research?
I was a research assistant in a viral immunology lab at UVA for a couple of years during my undergraduate education and I absolutely loved it. It was my first real experience getting to apply my degree and education to real-world problems.

What’s one thing on your bucket list?
Go cage diving!
